barry makes his own go-kartsA fire-fighter from Portsmouth has been taking his hobby of building go-karts to the next level-and has in fact been able to sell a bucket of them, despite the public being cautious about spending money on luxuries since the beginning of the recession.
Barry Smith, helped along by wife Yvonne, came up with the idea for KMX Karts in 2002, and spent many an hour developing the idea for the karts- which the company refers to as ‘trikes’- in his workshop, in between shifts at the fire station. Having come runner up in the New Business Excellence Awards last year, Barry has big plans for his go-karts, and is hoping to increase the number of suppliers in the USA, make them available at British campsites, as well as break the rental market with them, appealing to people who want a quick way to get to work that’s healthy and kind to the environment.
If like Barry and Yvonne you’ve had an idea for some go-kart that’d you’d like to see on our shelves, or indeed any other invention of yours that you’d like to share with us, please do get in touch and let us know what you’re made of! Who knows, you may feature in one of our blogs. Or, if you’d like any more information about our own go-karts, please do get in touch and one of our team will be hand to help answer your questions.
