The Berg Moov range was changed in March 2009 to incorporate two sizes of kit – giving the fans of the construction kit three differently sized kits as options.

We were such fans of the kit that we started a website dedicated to the range – www.iliketomoovit.com. Never before had we seen a toy developed to give children the  opportunity to build a robust toy they can ride, without requiring tools or their parents’ help. The materials are simple: wood, coated structural components, and a patented rubber ring as a connection system.

What’s in the Seven in One kit?

Firstly it is important to note that the seven in one kit has over 150 parts which enable children to construct seven models ranging from a helicopter and crane to great fun ride-on toys such as the chopper and scooter.  We always take time to explain that you cannot build seven models at any one time – rather children construct one option and then take the parts to pieces and construct a second option.

As with all of the Berg Moov range the quality of the build is excellent and once children get the hang of how the o-rings work in the construction system some of the models can be assembled in under half an hour. The “Street Kit” Berg Moov is the most expensive of the kits currently offered at £219.99 – but it is also the most extensive containing the parts needed to construct any one of ten potential models at any one time. We also believe that this moves the Moov away from the ride-on market and more towards the children’s construction market. We think that this is an important move as much of the satisfaction/enjoyment that children gain with a Moov is during the period of construction – when they open a box with 175 parts and construct a life-size toy.

The core of the Berg Moov range was always the construction of ride-on toys that evoked the memories of soap box go karts in the fathers. The 10 in One allows from the construction of five ride-on toys – all of which are substantial and children will have great fun with.

If you are new to the Moov range please note that none of these ride-on toys have pedals and require either a downhill slope or an equally excitable friend to push.

Berg have moved the Moov range further forward with other construction toys such as the helicopter and the crane. With the Moov three in one construction kit children can construct three separate designs from the parts provided. Once constructed and the child wants a change – they can simply take it to pieces and start again. The Berg Moov is designed for children between the age of five and twelve.

Moov Bike

“Running, jumping on it, feet on the front axle and swish, there you go! The rubber tyres of the Bike can take quite a few bumps and bobs.” One of the original Berg Moov designs and really stands out when out and about – It needs a child of four plus to ride on as it is in fact a fairly heavy design.

Moov Snow Scooter

The Snow Scooter is good for hours of pleasure – our test subjects took under an hour to construct the scooter and then we had three five year olds jumping all over it for an hour. It drives and glides, best on grass rather than concrete. 

Moov Crane

“Inside or outside, this Crane hoists like no other. Whatever lies in its way, it simply drags away. Mon and Dad, better put those shoes away!” Again our test subjects found it fairly challenging to construct – and one of the drawbacks of the design is that it is not a ride-on. Although great to construct you are likely to see the ride-on bike and scooter around the house for longer.

In a word – AWESOME! MOOV may be one of the coolest toys we have ever reviewed! It is totally original, incredibly functional, durable, and with a little practice surprisingly easy to use! Yes – the price is high…but sometimes an expensive toy packs so much into its design that it just may be worth every penny – and we think this is one of those! The vote

A professional jury consisting of 12 people from retail organisations, journalists and toy experts, nominated five articles – out of 200 submissions – in the each age category. The jury wrote the following about MOOV: “A Dutch invention which is extremely sound and robust. You build your own vehicle; your tools are your hands. Build, toil and race.”

The public

The public had an opportunity to vote on their favourite product according to age category. From September 3rd until November 2nd via the website www.speelgoedvanhetjaar.nl MOOV received the most votes from the public!

From a scooter to a 4-wheeler

Children can experiment endlessly with the components of MOOV. These include special metal ribbed bars, flexible rings and wooden boards, a foam seat, steering rope, brakes, reflectors and – of course – mud guards. These comprise the base for each design, the basic outlines with which the mechanic/designer can put together an unbelievable number of variations.

Go-kart 2008

The idea of MOOV originated from a request for wheels that BERG Toys received for building a go-kart. After three years of development, the old-time go-kart obtained new zest: MOOV. Children became the mechanics with the possible assistance of their parents. They could build or redo the most diverse models according to their insights and fantasy, and later play with them alone or with friends. MOOV is manufactured according to strict quality standards for safety and the environment.

The Vote for the Toy of the Year was held this year for the 35th time.

Dependent on the children and/or the environment in which the Berg Moov is used then we would recommend that the children wear helmets.

And all that is possible using just the hands, and no tools – an extraordinary plaything, with unlimited variations. The real showstopper: if a youngster no longer wants to play on his machine, he can simply build another.

Children face a new challenge: before they can race all over the place in a variety of racers, they have to build it. So in this playful way they learn manual skills and in so doing they create a drivable set of wheels which will astonish friends and relatives alike, and on which they can travel about in safety.

Illustrated instructions contained in the box give children an immediate idea of which parts to use to build the machine they want, and show them step by step how to combine the various elements to create the whole.
