If they’re good enough for the most famous, wealthy and most beautiful people on the planet, then they’re certainly good enough for us. To celebrate the recent 9th birthday of the oldest Jolie-Pitt sprog, Brad and Ange took the whole family to a go-kart track, to let the little ones experience the thrills and spills of an exciting and adrenalin-filled activity. Young Maddox had the treat of having the entire site of Go Kart World in California to himself, along with his siblings and pals, on August the 5th, the date of his coming into the world. After a good old session on the track, the party goers, supervised by parents, enjoyed tucking into a feast of cake and pizza, as well as playing a variety of party games (just like regular people, we’re sure you’ll agree).

This summer, a film that will get many toy enthusiasts across the world really riled up and excited. That’s right, fellow Berg Toys fans, Toy Story 3 is here, and taking the cinematic world by storm, bringing thousands of families into picture houses all over the place. For many, it’ll be trip to see a lovely, entertaining and relaxing film, but for us, there’s more to it than that. When we see that adorable slinky dog, along with the penguin who doesn’t quite squeak any more, we see that toys are more than just playthings for many children, they’re something to really love and cherish, for many more years than we adults might predict.

Berg Go-Karts at another Fund raiser

We recently caught wind of a story from halfway across the world, Canada to be exact, where locals in Saint John gathered in the streets on the last weekend of June, to see kids from the area build and then race their own go-karts. The event was organised by Kids ‘n Karts, the fundraisers for The Joshua Group, who help at-risk children live a better quality of life. There are hopes that the proceeds from the day will help fund a summer camp for the children who are helped by the charity, from all across Canada.

There really is nothing we like better than hearing about fund-raising events, about people coming together and helping those less fortunate, particularly if there are go-karts involved. If you’re thinking of hosting your own event, why not bring in the pennies with a Berg go-kart building competition, just like the kids in Saint John were able to participate in, and give them something to remember for a long time to come. New Go-Kart Centre opens in Stevenston

As the summer holidays get closer, and the time when the kids will be off school creeps nearer, there’s always a need to find things for them to do during the holidays. As we think you know by now, here at Berg Toys we love getting kids out and about, using their bodies, and burning energy, as they play with our famous Berg Go-karts. But if you’re looking to treat the little darlings to the real thing, and you live in or around Scotland, you’re in luck. The very first go-kart track has just opened in Stevenston, thanks to Mr Scott McGlinchey, his three- year bid, and tonnes of hard work, to get West Coast Karts up and running. The ideas behind the centre are those that prove that even in the midst of a recession, small businesses can start up, and flourish in their first few months of trading. Mr McGlinchey is also delighted to be able to say that his is the only go-kart centre in Scotland, where people of all ages can enjoy the karts and state-of-the-art facilities that he has to offer, all in a safe and controlled environment.

Here at Berg Toys, there’s nothing we’re more passionate about than getting kids out and about, burning some of that endless supply of energy that always seems to be in store, and making sure they have a jolly good old time whilst doing it. Of course, Berg go-karts are one way in which this is possible, with their nifty design making them ideal for children of all ages, but with the summer holidays coming up, we know that you may need a little more to keep them occupied for all those weeks…so let us inform you of some of the best activities going on throughout the UK during July and August, all of which will help keep the kids busy, and you can have some fun too!

Take your kids to a water park: With a variety of locations and types of activities on offer at each one, water parks in the UK are generally well-run, safe for the kids (in case they get separated from you), and some offer really good group discounts.

Put on a puppet show: Grab yourself some felt, some lolly sticks, a bit of glitter (and whatever other handicraft materials you have around the house), and a giant cardboard box, and let their imaginations do the rest! You’ll be amazed what the kids come up with when they really put their energy into it.

Enrol in a reading scheme: For the moments when they’re a bit calmer, the summer reading scheme at your local library will provide a variety of reading material for all age groups. Why not take the books to the park and enjoy the sunshine?

Berg Toys and the history of the Car Chase

We at Berg Toys love going fast (but not too fast, mind, and certainly not fast enough to pose any hazard to those around us) on our Moov toys and Berg Go Karts. In honour and recognition of this, we thought we’d give you a short history of something else thrilling and fast-the car chase. For decades, films have used the car chase for thrills and to keep their audience on the edge of their seats, television stations have commissioned programmes following criminals driving away from police at high speed, and we can’t seem to get enough of the action.

One of the most famous car chases in history is that created and filmed in the classic film “The Italian Job”, which involved three Mini Coopers racing to Turin. The success and popularity of the film saw the humble mini also become incredibly sought-after.

Of course, we cannot condone driving at speed in a real-life car; just leave that to the experts, who are doing so in a carefully controlled environment.
